Young-hee Hong’s artistic work entails a constant exploration of links : the link as an interface in her sculptural studies from the 1990s, or as the metaphor of « Skin » used to represent the separation between a being and its environment. The link acts as a strong association of opposites, when there is the raw physical action of visibly tying or sewing together material that should have been separated, in an attempt to resolve a fundamental conflict through a new dynamic. The most implicit link is that which is created by individuals in their relationship to others and the world around them : the artist no longer seeks to materially represent a union but rather to show the possibilities for others to create their links, their tales, their encounters.
