Lee goes for a walk every dawn (when the nights ends and the day starts) and encounter the intensity of change of lights and tensions in the surrounding environment. Walking through the fog of consciouness and unconsciousness, contrast of lightness and darkness is what he experinces. and he trys to capture it in his drawings and lenticular works.
Lee sees himself as a gardener who cultivates a pictorial space with ecological images and visual elements to create a perfect poetic garden thorugh paintings, drawings and photography.
Yong-Kyu Lee is currently a professor at Samsung Art& Design Institute in Seoul, Korea.
