Jana Koelmel
Jana Koelmel (*1986) is a German-Australian visual artist, photographer, and mother of two, who lives and works in Brisbane, Australia. Her work translates our inner landscapes into the visual world through photography, video, text, and installation. She is interested in themes surrounding women’s stories, the everyday, identity, language and belonging.
She holds two Master’s degrees, the first in Fine Art Photography from Folkwang University, Germany, followed by an M.A. in Photography and Moving Image at the Royal College of Art, London. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at: Kunstmuseum Bonn; Kunsthalle Nürnberg/Kunsthaus Nürnberg; Pump House Gallery, London; Kunstverein Wilhelmshöhe e.V., Ettlingen; Photokina, Cologne; Salon Photo Off, Paris; Kingsgate Project Space, London; Michael Hoppen Gallery, London; Metro Polanco Art Space, Mexico City; and Victoria Square Project, Athens.
